3 Years of the McCabe Lecture Series

What are the McCabe Lectures?
All NLCS schools have a series of lectures. In London and Dubai they're known as the Nicholson Lectures, in Jeju they're the Sejong lectures. Ours were named after Bernice McCabe, who was the headmistress of NLCS London who very sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2019.

As an inspirational educationalist, she formed much of the ethos of NLCS, a big part of that being our focus on academic rigour and specifically that academic achievement isn't limited to the classroom. And our high expectations of teachers' subject passion and the exploration of our subjects beyond the curriculum, is largely attributed to her leadership and influence. 

Through the McCabe Lecture series, we hope that our community hear and feel the passion and enthusiasm that our teachers and visiting speakers have about their subjects or specialisms. We hope to open minds to concepts, beliefs or fields of knowledge that have never been considered or experienced before. If by the end of a McCabe Lecture a student leaves feeling more confused than they were at the start, that's great!
